2015 Summer Internship Program

 

 

The Capital Region Small Business Transportation Resource Center (SBTRC) is excited to partner with WMATA to help showcase future transportation-related career opportunities for young women in the DC, MD and Northern VA area!  We have teamed up to provide an 8-week, full-time, PAID internship opportunity at WMATA for the summer of 2015.  We are seeking motivated, flexible, smart, hard-working interns for the position.

WHO:  Capital Region Small Business Transportation Resource Center

WHAT:  Summer Internship at WMATA – (Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority)

WHEN:  June 15 – August 14

WHERE:  8201 Ardwick-Ardmore Road, Landover, MD 20785

Job Description:  Summer interns will work with WMATA's team to support the office's daily operations.  Interns will have the opportunity to learn what programs and support services exist within the company, and how these relate to the general transportation community in DC, MD and Northern VA.  Responsibilities may include making meeting and event arrangements; preparing reports and financial data; training and customer relations. Requires strong computer and internet research skills, excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work well with all levels of internal management and staff, as well as outside clients and vendors. Sensitivity to confidential matters may be required.

Ideal interns will perform administrative and office support activities for multiple supervisors. Duties may include fielding telephone calls, receiving and directing visitors, word processing, creating spreadsheets and presentations, and filing.

Experience with preparing spreadsheets and presentation, filing, and data entry. Additional duties include helping with trade show and event planning. May also be involved in monitoring activity and assisting in monthly newsletter preparation.

Computer skills including experience in Windows, Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, Powerpoint, are a plus.
