Civic Nation seeks a Data Engineer for its Data and Technology team. The Data Engineer is responsible for supporting Civic Nation's teams and initiatives through supporting members of the Data & Technology team through building and maintaining ETL/ELT processes and data pipelines, and liaising with internal and external stakeholders to ensure Civic Nation is utilizing best in class data infrastructure to make and manage programmatic decisions. 

ABOUT THE DATA & TECHNOLOGY TEAM 

The Data & Technology team consists of data scientists, analysts, engineers, and IT professionals who develop, manage and execute the short-and long-term technical needs and roadmap for all parts of the organization's internal operations and external initiatives, programs, and campaigns. In addition, the team provides robust data analysis, build and maintain a host of tools and infrastructure, and service Civic Nation's internal needs.

YOUR IMPACT

  • Creating reusable processes or pipelines to enable user-triggered workflows that communicate with a variety of CRMs via API endpoints.

  • Empowering the Data & Technology team to provide decision-making insights through data architecture and documentation

  • Ensuring that both internal and external development is in line with the needs and priorities of the Civic Nation team & initiatives

  • Working with stakeholders and vendors on understanding new and changing data models across Civic Nation's suite of existing tooling

  • Support internal projects by identifying and ingesting relevant datasets

YOUR EXPERIENCE

  • 5+ years of analytics, engineering, technology, or equivalent experience, preferably in the non-profit and/or political space

  • Demonstrated experience working in Python and/or SQL required

  • Comprehensive knowledge of database systems

  • Intermediate knowledge of workflow management tools (e.g. Mistral, dbt, Airflow, Prefect) in addition to workflow management platforms (e.g. Fivetran, Zapier)

  • Significant experience with data models from CRMs (e.g. EveryAction, Salesforce)

  • Proficiency with AWS and/or JavaScript preferred

YOUR COMPETENCIES

  • High level project management skills with a commitment to development timelines and roadmaps

  • A team-focused, problem-solving mindset with a focus on developing both prompt results as well as long-term solutions

  • A high level of attention to detail and communication skills, and an ability to (and interest in) talk about data and technical concepts to a broad audience of people with varying technical backgrounds. 

  • High level of comfort in a rapidly changing environment, and demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.

  • Commitment to documentation and excellent writing and editing skills

  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with an eye for details

  • Proficiency in Google Suite

SALARY & BENEFITS

The Washington, DC-based salary range for this position is $100,000 - $125,000 (will be adjusted for cost of labor for the incumbent's work location) annually, commensurate with experience. MANDATORY COVID-19 VACCINATION POLICY

Toward that goal, and in consideration of guidance released by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), and a variety of public health authorities and professional organizations, Civic Nation has implemented a mandatory COVID-19 vaccination policy for its employees.

All employees are required to be fully vaccinated for COVID-19 as a term and condition of employment at Civic Nation unless an exemption or deferral has been approved. Individuals are considered fully vaccinated two weeks after they get their second dose of a messenger RNA (mRNA) vaccine, such as Pfizer-BioNTech or Moderna, or two weeks after a single dose of the Janssen/Johnson & Johnson vaccine

New employees must be fully vaccinated before their start date unless an exemption due to a medical condition or a sincerely held religious belief or practice is granted.
