GALVANIZE: Galvanize Movie Night Wed 7/7

OCOMOGOSIAY!!
✊🏾❤🖤💚💛

Hey Beautiful Creatives, Beautiful Theatricals and friends and family!

We're sending you lots of love and support as we're all navigating so much in so many different directions and especially as we emerge through such a profoundly difficult season of immeasurable loss. We recognize this. And that's why, as Galvanize celebrates it's sweet 16 (🥳!), we are recommitted to lifting up and celebrating you and the community that you have nurtured and helped to thrive through all of your creativity and good works.

So let's share some joy, good music, culture and fellowship--this coming Wednesday July 7th (film starts at 645p) at AFI/Silver Spring for the film SUMMER OF SOUL.

Now, we know we ain't seen each other in over 18 months. And it, no doubt, may be a bit awkward being around folks after so long of NOT being around folks. But that's ok. If you can, embrace it and maybe find some strength in knowing that you are most assuredly not alone in your awkwardness and come on out Wednesday evening and join us. And if not, that's ok too. Because, either way, hopefully you'll find solace in knowing that this community that you've helped build and nurture is STILL HERE and you are VERY much an integral part of it---and YOU. MATTER.

So, if you do come on out, get your tix in advance online.

❤🖤💚💛✊🏾🎭📽🎵🎶

WHEN: **Wednesday, July 7th** Film starts at 6:45p

WHAT: SUMMER OF SOUL: "part music film, part historical record created around an epic event that celebrated Black history, culture and fashion. Over the course of six weeks in the summer of 1969, just one hundred miles south of Woodstock, The Harlem Cultural Festival was filmed in Mount Morris Park (now Marcus Garvey Park). The footage was never seen and largely forgotten-until now. SUMMER OF SOUL shines a light on the importance of history to our spiritual well-being and stands as a testament to the healing power of music during times of unrest, both past and present. The feature includes never-before-seen concert performances by Stevie Wonder, Nina Simone, Sly and the Family Stone, Gladys Knight and the Pips, Mahalia Jackson, B.B. King, The 5th Dimension and more."
