I'm sad to say my team assistant is leaving us after 2 wonderful years to try something new. So we are looking for someone to fill her shoes. This person should have some knowledge of html, keen attention to detail, be a quick learner and strong multi-task abilities. This is an extremely fast paced, but awesome work environment. Email Marketing Assistant

Summary
American Progress is seeking an Email Marketing Assistant to help promote progressive policies and ideas among targeted audiences. The Email Marketing Assistant will be a part of the Email team and will be responsible for executing and improving American Progress's multifaceted email marketing program, including creating and disseminating up to 50 email blasts each week. The position is part of the External Affairs department, which handles outreach to elected officials; national, state, and local advocates; other policy organizations and think tanks; and other audiences. The ideal candidate has experience in online communications and an interest in leveraging email to grow audience lists and strengthen constituent relationships. We are looking for someone who understands the need to treat our constituents with respect and recognizes that email is one of the most personal points of contact. We're looking for a fast learner who is passionate about progressive values, has excellent attention to detail, and is skilled at managing multiple tasks in a demanding and fast-paced environment. In your cover letter, please describe your experience working in online communications, including which online-marketing software or tools you've used. Please also state the extent of your skill level in creating HTML documents.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

* Developing, producing, and sending HTML emails for multiple departments, working in conjunction with team members across the organization.
* Managing weekly email schedule in conjunction with other members of the Email team.
* Assisting in the implementation of email marketing campaigns.
* Improving the quality of email presentation and content.
* Helping to monitor and improve email marketing metrics for evaluation.
* Researching and helping implement email best practices.
* Improving quality and effectiveness of email through testing.
* Helping to propose and establish guidelines for improving the existing email production process.
* Helping ensure that American Progress email practices are consistent with high industry standards of privacy and security.

Qualifications and requirements:
* Knowledge of and experience using HTML and HTML editors such as Dreamweaver strongly preferred.
* Experience working in online communications, ideally at a nonprofit, public policy, or political organization; experience creating and disseminating blast email strongly preferred.
* Superb attention to detail.
* Experience and skill in managing multiple tasks and projects in a tight timeframe, while producing high-quality results.
* Ability to think on your feet and make tricky judgment calls on a regular basis.
* Exceptional oral and written communication skills.
* Self-starter; able to work both independently and collaboratively.
* Appreciation of and interest in message testing and monitoring metrics.
* Experience in graphic design for online products a plus.
* Knowledge of CRM packages such as Salesforce.com a plus.
* Familiarity with progressive public policy a plus.
* Must be committed to the values and ideals advanced by the Center for American Progress.
