Dear Luna -- a short film.
Director's Notes:
At its core, Dear Luna is a story of the Venezuelan diaspora. Inspired by my family's experiences during the Venezuelan crisis, I wanted to explore how animal companions are a safety net for people in times of hardship. As a love letter to Venezuela, Dear Luna seeks to include songs, traditions, and experiences unique to my Venezuelan upbringing. With this I seek to break stereotypes, as well as teach and share the love I have for my culture.

*************************************************** ROLE 1 OF 3: Soledad ***************************************************
Character: Soledad Role: Lead (Female) Ethnicity: Latina Age Range: 20-25
Representation Note: Authentic representation of the Venezuelan community is a priority. We would love to cast an actor who identifies with Venezuelan heritage. However, we recognize this can be a specialized demographic in terms of casting, and we are also open to considering performers who have a meaningful connection to Venezuelan culture.
Description: Soledad is someone figuring out her place in the world. After losing her family, she is doing her best to keep everything together. She is driven, and caring, but also clumsy and neurotic. Self-reliant, but yearns for her community. Zillenial-type. Ranges between funny and emotional.
*************************************************** ROLE 2 OF 3: Young Soledad ***************************************************
Character: Soledad (Young) Role: Lead (Female) Ethnicity: Latina Age Range: 10-15 Special Skills: Fluent in English and Spanish; Dog friendly
Description: Young Soledad is the antithesis of her older self. She is full of life, allowed to be messy and clumsy. At her core, she is someone who cares, loves, and gives. A reminder of who Soledad once was.
*************************************************** ROLE 3 OF 3: Xolo, a character deeply rooted in Aztec mythology. ***************************************************
Character: Xolo Role: Lead (Male) Ethnicity: Mexican Indigenous Age Range: (25-45) Special Skills: Requires SFX makeup/costumes
Representation Note: Authentic representation of Indigenous Mexican communities is a priority. We would love to cast an actor who identifies with Indigenous Mexican heritage. However, we recognize this can be a specialized demographic in terms of casting, and we are also open to considering performers who have a meaningful connection to Indigenous cultures of Mexico..
Description: Xolo is the guide to the afterlife. Built from clay by Death itself, Xolo does the grunt work that Death cannot do. He is Death's top soldier, being loyal, and extremely skilled. He doesn't have time to think over things, he just does them, which can conflict with both Soledad and Death's unexpected behavior.
