Hello,

My name is Mekala Sridhar, and I am reaching out to you because of your work at the intersection of art and activism that speaks to the current moment.

I want to invite you to join a movement -- a nationwide performance protest that is FREE and welcome to all, called Good Trouble on Sunday, November 1st, 2020 at 12:00 PST/2:00 PM CT/3:00 EST.

Good Trouble, will invite people all over the United States to gather while physically distant to embody "Beloved Community"; an idea that Dr. MLK Jr. developed many years ago to invite humanity into "understanding, redeeming goodwill for all… overflowing love that is purely spontaneous, unmotivated, groundless and creative." (Read more here.)

Let's imagine national unity.

Let's practice hope.

Let's embody human belonging, one to the other.

In this moment when our country is divided and the earth is in crisis, we need creative solutions. We need to come together to compassionately and critically examine the issues that are vital to human flourishing -- Black Lives Matter, climate change, and equity and dignity for all.

Good Trouble is an audio play with music, poetry, verbatim dialogue, and audience participation. The title is a term we borrowed from the late John Lewis, a leader in the movement of love in action and civil disobedience. This world premiere theatrical event uses the exact words of Gen Z community organizers to explore how youth activism is changing the landscape of our nation.

We are encouraging communities to organize their own public gatherings and listen to the piece together as a form of performance protest. On Sunday, November 1st, Good Trouble will be broadcast nationally for free, so that organizations like yours across the country can participate in this powerful experience.

If you would like to join this nationwide movement on November 1st, 2020, you can organize your own community. Attached is a how-to guide for organizing your community, and for additional information, please visit https://www.blindspotcollective.org/good-trouble-usa.

If you're interested and have any further questions on the show or how you can organize your community, please feel free to reach out to me.

Warmly,

Mekala
