Dear friends! We are in an emergency situation. Unfortunately after 10 and half years and many cultural events and theater productions we can lose our Hungarian bookstore (which is the only one in the USA!) and art center space in the East Village. We always were independent (without big sponsors) and fought for our mission hard. Nowadays it is not easy to survive as an independent bookstore and art center because the rent is very high and we have to organize many events but we risk a lot. The only solution is to continue our programs, workshops, theater productions and more cultural events, if we can collect at least $2500 in 2 days for our rent (half month). We would like to share our space from September with other artists and educators but our landlord needs a guarantee from us by giving him a check on Monday (August 13th). We would like to change our status into a not-for-profit organization because it is obvious that we can't make profit (we never did!). Our mission is to support Hungarian language and culture by our books and programs in New York and in all other states. So we would like to ask your support RIGHT NOW through Paypal (see below) or by phone 646 484 5525 because it is really emergency and we send you books, magazines or you can join our workshops, language classes (skype-classes, too), or we can offer theater tickets or our space to use for parties or workshops. All donation are gratefully accepted! Please make a note about your preference (books, magazines, parties, workshops, theater, language classes, rehearsals, exhibitions, music shows, POP-UP shows, etc.) and we will surprise you with our great gift! We believe if we work together, we can stay together and build a better cultural Hungarian-American community which is our important and common goal! Our space is necessary for our events, rehearsals, costumes, props, books, educational tools, meetings, readings, discussions or workshops. Please help us and we can continue our job to help others and our Hungarian cultural life!

Found at the same location, the art center provides a place for a variety of cultural and creative workshops for many different age-groups. Among its many social functions, it also provides a home for the Pilvax Players, and most of Pilvax Productions' projects. Our latest endeavor, The Captain Filthy Fred, was a direct outcome of this partnership. Your support of the Pilvax Art Center serves as a direct support of many of our future projects.
