[SCOW] Leukemia Cup Next Weekend- fun for all

I wanted all SCOW members to know that they are invited and encouraged to come out for the Leukemia Cup Events this next week.

Let’s cheer on the SCOW boats that are racing and help raise money to defeat Leukemia and Lymphoma blood cancers.   Get on a Spectator boat to see the racing up close.

There are great parties ---            Wednesday Sept 5, Leukemia Cup Raffle ticket drawing   6pm, drawing at 8:30pm, Cantina Marina Restaurant, 600 Water Street, SW,(on the Waterfront)  Washington D. C.

If you don’t have a raffle ticket yet for a chance at 7 nights in St Lucia with airfare for two, see attached form to email for one or come early to buy one there.

Friday Sept 7th 6pm dinner with guest speaker, world famous racing sailor and commentator for the recent America’s Cup, Gary Jobson.   $10 per ticket at gate

at Washington Sailing Marina, on the lawn

Saturday, Sept8th Skippers Meeting at 9:00am, Racing all day and at 4:00pm a Barbeque party, racing awards, silent auction and great live music $10 per ticket at gate

at Washington Sailing Marina, on the lawn

Saturday, Sept 8th  – 3 spectator boats out of Washington Sailing Marina  that you can go out on:  9:30, 10:30 & 12:15-- $10 donation for a 2 hr.  cruise with light  refreshments to watch the races       – advance reservations are required for spectator boats.   See the attached flyer for how to make reservations.

FYI the third attachment shows the power of even the smallest donation.  It is rewarding to know that with SCOW’s Team Tartan’s fundraising so far, we will more than  fund a program to educate more than 200 doctors on emerging treatments for specific blood cancer.   Check the list and see what your donation could accomplish; it is not too late to donate.

And, with the final attachment see where we ranked last year among all the Leukemia Cups nationwide.   It would be wonderful this year to at least raise more than the Southern Yacht Club out of New Orleans and we can only work harder to beat San Francisco someday !!!!!
